After retiring from the Patriots, Julian Edelman reunited with trio legends for one more time. Moving ahead to March of a more recent year, there was a special gathering of Patriots legends. During this reunion, the trio of Tom Brady, Rob Gronkowski, and Julian Edelman came together and channeled the vibe of ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ while playing beach football.

However, before this Patriots gathering, an American actor Jon Bernthal engaged in a conversation with the former NFL wide receiver Julian Edelman. This interesting discussion took place on Jon’s podcast called ‘Real Ones with Jon Bernthal’. Bernthal asked ‘how Brady likened Julian’s dedication to that of a “golden retriever”’. And in the course of this engaging dialogue, Julian finally revealed an unheard truth about him & Tom Brady.

A winning duo senses

On the show, the actor Bernthal wonders if Brady initially saw Edelman as a potential star player or if there was something distinctive about Edelman’s performance when running 75 routes. Julian Edelman, who retired from the NFL in April 2021, responds by explaining the dynamic between him and Brady. Edelman states that they both benefited from each other in different ways.

“I think we were both using each other for different reasons. I was using him [Tom Brady] just to be seen, just to let him know, I’m here.”  37 years told, that he used Brady as a way to showcase his presence and commitment, letting Brady know that he was ready to contribute. “He was using me because he needed to throw the ball, and you know you need to throw the ball to move in targets.”

“And especially guys that know your system, you can sit and talk football, and you know you’re sharpening your brain in the off-season when you can sit and talk play.” Edelman describes how they would discuss specific football plays and formations, which helped both of them stay mentally and physically sharp. “It’s helping him stay in shape mentally, physically. And for me, it was like I did, I was just available.” For Edelman, being available and willing to contribute was his way of showing dedication to the team.

Edelman teases Tom Brady’s next job

On August 22, 2023, Tom Brady posted a birthday message on Instagram for his oldest son Jack. Julian Edelman, who had played football alongside Brady for 12 years in New England, made a humorous comment about Tom Brady’s potential future job in the message for Brady’s son’s birthday. Brady said, “Now it’s time for the next step… the learner’s permit… hahahaha… I’m going to stay away from the road.” Soon after, Edelman, who used to play with Brady, wrote a comment that said, “Already 16?! You better start teaching how to drive, @tombrady … happy birthday Jack!”

Not only did Gisele Bündchen share her own birthday message for Jack on Instagram, but she also included pictures of them together and a cute photo of all three siblings. She wrote, “Happy birthday Jack! I can’t believe you’re turning 16!” In October, Brady and Bündchen announced that they had finished their divorce after being married for 13 years.
