When Patrick Mahomes lost against Tom Brady in Super Bowl 2021, many people started having doubts about him. Many believed he’ll never be able to match Brady’s legacy, which he was earlier touted to do. One of the people who believed that Mahomes would never achieve what Brady did was former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo.
One of the people who came to Mahomes’ defense was NFL Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe. On his show, Undisputed, he disagreed with what Tony Romo said about the Chiefs quarterback.

Shannon Sharpe said, “I strenuously disagree with Tony Romo. I vehemently disagree with Tony Romo, um Patrick Mahomes is 25 years of age. There’s so much left of his career, and this is what I don’t get.”
He added, “Everybody is quick to dismiss if Patrick Mahomes does not beat Tony does not beat Tom Brady, there’s no way he can catch uh Tom Brady, nobody ever said that about Brady well if he lose one of these Super Bowls there’s no way he can catch Joe(Montana)...”
Shannon Sharpe has always been a firm supporter of Patrick Mahomes. He gave the logical reasoning that there is still a lot of time left in Mahomes’ career to achieve more greatness.
