This Sunday, the Washington Commanders did the impossible thing by ending the Eagles’ unbeaten run so far in this current season. After that win, the head coach of the Commanders, Ron Rivera, became really emotional as he remembered his mother.

Notably, a few days back, Rivera attended the funeral of his mother, who passed away due to cancer. He also missed one practice session due to that reason; many thought he won’t be at the sideline during the Eagles match-up. However, he surprised everyone and turned up at the press conference right after his mother’s funeral.
NFL fans react after seeing Commanders HC Ron Rivera getting emotional
A video recently surfaced on Twitter and other social media platform, where Rivera was speaking to his players in the locker room after the win against the Eagles. While giving a speech, he looked visibly choked up, as the players showed him massive respect, particularly WR Terry McLaurin.
In that speech, Rivera said only a few words before leaving the room and they are, “My mother would have been proud.“
Ron Rivera recently lost his mother and got choked up in the locker room after the big win over the Eagles: "My mother would have been proud."
Terry McLaurin, who has become a tremendous leader, took it over from there.
What a moment.

Meanwhile, many fans sympathized with Rivera, even some of the Eagles fans as well despite being angry with poor refereeing. One Eagles fan tweeted:
I truly am sorry for his loss… but the real question is… where are the refs and why aren’t they celebrating with Washington in this clip?

Meanwhile, one fan showed great appreciation for Rivera for building a great team in a dysfunctional organization. Another fan takes a dig at the owner of the Commanders’ organization, Dan Snyder.
Dan Snyder doesn’t deserve to be associated with this team ong

Another fan showed empathy for Rivera for going through so much in one lifetime.
Man has gone through so much. First cancer, now losing his mother. I’m sure this win meant a lot to him.

One Twitter user felt Rivera’s dedication toward the game is unbelievable .
Regardless of what you think about Ron Rivera’s coaching you have to admire his dedication to the game and how he’s constantly pushed through these hardships and still comes back to coach. That’s love of the game.

Interestingly, one Eagles fan blamed the players for their loss and praised Washington for their tremendous victory.

Nice dub for Wash. Happy for Ron bcs hes a good man. The NFC East is legit but Eagles did everything they could to lose this game (turnovers, bad on 3rd, bad D scheme, late to adjust, ill timed turnovers, turnovers) May not be a bad thing long term for them.

It is worth noting that the Commanders won four out of their last five games. In a way, it was not a fluke win for the Washington team; however, it’s a big upset for the Eagles as they lost their first game of the season after winning 8 consecutive games.

In spite of all the outside noise about the sale of the franchise, Rivera is doing everything in his power to ensure that the players remain focused on football. Certainly, he is doing a tremendous job, as the Commanders have now 5-5 record. Although their chances of qualifying for the playoffs look really dire, they still can pose a massive threat to the other teams as well.
