According to him, he had to face acute mental stress at the beginning of his career when he was playing college football in Michigan. At that time, sports psychologist Greg Harden helped him massively to grow as a person and become a top professional.
Tom Brady once talked about taking help from a psychologist
During the Howard Stern Show, Brady got a little emotional while talking about his psychologist, Harden. He said, “I started working with a psychologist who was really an amazing influence on my life… It’s a little emotional because it was a very vulnerable time in my life because I was questioning who I was.“
“I had gone from [growing up in] California to Michigan. I was a long way from home in a different environment. [Harden] helped me kind of grow up from this kid in California to being more of a man and being on my own and taking more personal responsibility for my life. He wasn’t going to let me be a victim,” TB12 further said.
Notably, Brady revealed that he once considered leaving Michigan for California. However, Michigan coach Lloyd Carr changed his mind. Later, Harden helped Brady to achieve mental toughness, as he started working hard to get a place in the starting line-up. As a result of his hard work, he became the starting quarterback for the Michigan team and soon the Patriots drafted him in the 6th round in the 2000 NFL draft.
Now, Harden has become the senior executive athletic director and director of athletic counseling at Michigan. As per Brady, he and Harden still share a close relationship.

Brady’s journey as a QB in the NFL
After the Patriots picked him, he did not get an opportunity straightaway, as he played only a few minutes in one game in the 2000 season. Then, his fortunes changed in the 2001 season, when he became a starter for the Patriots.
At first, nobody picked him to be one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time. Brady worked really hard for it to become one of the best, if not the best. He played for the Patriots for 20 years and won 6 Super Bowl titles. Then, he joined the Bucs in 2020 and won the Super Bowl with them in his very first season. Currently, he is playing his 3rd season with the Bucs and his 23rd season in the NFL.
