It’s no secret that NFL players take their EA Sports Madden NFL ratings very, very seriously. Players across the league eagerly await the new edition of the game, year after year for a sole reason, their stats.

Madden is the only medium (apart from actual game statistics) available to NFL players where they can compare their own numbers with their rivals.

This year, Patrick Mahomes became the first member to be drafted into the 99 rated club for Madden NFL 21. He was joined by Carolina Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey, Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald and New England Patriots cornerback Stephon Gilmore.

Cincinnati Bengals’ DJ Reader not happy with his Madden NFL 21 rating

While speaking to Good Morning Football, DJ Reader talked about his own Madden  NFL 21 rating. He also doubled down on the significance of the ratings to certain players and why he isn’t really bothered about his low overall value in the game.

“I think, I feel like I should at least be an 88. I think I ended last season at 88. Also, I made steady improvement every year. My rookie year I was somewhere between 63-67. So, I got a new contract, had better stats, more QB hits, and all that stuff.

“I feel like I should be an 88. I just feel like that’s where I should be at. You know what I mean, but that’s okay. I think it gets people upset because, you know, that’s the only display that fans have of how you get to compare each other until the games go on.

“I don’t feel like I gotta go out there and prove myself to Madden. Because if I go out there now, some fans out there might think I’m sorry but I’m like ‘No, bruh, EA Sports trippin right now’,” Reader told GMFB.
