Kansas City Chiefs Patrick Mahomes has had an incredible run this season. The 27-year-old quarterback has been phenomenal on the field. Mahomes is also a frontrunner for the Most Valuable Player Award this season.

After the Chiefs’ dominant win against the Rams, Mahomes was reminded of last year’s AFC championship showdown against Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals. Mahomes spoke to the media about what he felt ahead of the Chiefs’ game against the Bengals this Sunday.

Patrick Mahomes won’t be making the same mistake twice

While talking to the reporters, Mahomes said, “…I mean they beat us, I played terrible in the second half and we lost at home that could’ve sent us to the Super Bowl [sic] so we’ll be ready to go this next week for sure.” Additionally, the quarterback also spoke of the takeaways from the previous game. Mahomes mentioned how the Chiefs took their lead for granted and caused the Bengals to make a comeback.

“…you learned that you got to just continue to push you can’t be satisfied with where you’re at, we scored a lot of points at [sic] first half, we went in kinda thinking we would just kind of coast to the Super Bowl but they’re a team that’s going to fight so they’re going to fight to the very end,” he said. Mahomes seems determined to not rewrite his mistakes from last year.

Mahomes versus Burrow, who will be victorious?

Joe Burrow and the Bengals are having a reasonably decent season. The Bengals are coming off a 20-16 victory over the Tennessee Titans. Without star receiver Ja’Marr Chase many assumed that Burrow would succumb to his opponent’s defense.

But the quarterback has proven that he can survive without Chase. The big question is, can the Bengals take on the Chiefs and beat them as they did last year? It’s easier said than done.
