During a recent episode of the ‘New Heights’ podcast with Jason Kelce and Travis Kelce, the Jets CB talked about the situation and his relationship with the Packers legend. During the conversation, Jason asked Sauce Gardner if the team is already working on a Sauce-Rodgers connection to be seen on the field.
To this Gardner replied, saying, “If Aaron Rodgers becomes Jet. That’s definitely gonna be in the talks. Lets make it happen man. I might have to get MVP. When you think MVP, there like quarterbacks be the first ballot when it comes to picks.”
Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes took home the MVP award for the 2022 season. And it seems like the rookie CB is eyeing a shot at the title after his spectacular rookie season at the Jets00.

Gardner’s fantastic rookie season
Sauce Gardner was picked up by the New York Jets as the No 4 overall pick in the 2022 NFL draft. In that same year, he won the AP Defensive Rookie Player of the Year award. This makes him the fifth Jets player to clinch the rookie title. Gardner had an impressive first season in New York. He had 75 tackles, and 2 interceptions and led the NFL with 20 pass defenses.
After putting up such impressive numbers in his debut season, Gardner will be eyeing an MVP contention in the 2023 season, along with the arrival of Aaron Rodgers to the New York Jets.
