Derrick Henry has emerged as the newest name in the list of players set to be shipped by their teams. After spending seven long years with the Tennessee Titans, Henry will soon be on the lookout for a new place to belong to.

Entering his ultimate season with the Titans, Henry was expected to make over $10 million. Trading him up would, however, help the Titans’ franchise enormously, as they would end up saving $6.3 million in salary cap for the 2023 season.

With all the narratives going around, an interaction between Derrick Henry and New England Patriots linebacker Matthew Judon has resurfaced and caught the attention of many.

Derrick Henry to the Patriots?

Back in February, during the Pro Bowl, Derrick Henry was found enquiring about New England.

How you like it in New England, man?” asked Henry.

The question was directed at the New England Patriots linebacker Matthew Judon, who replied, “I love it, actually

Not much was made of this interaction at the time. But with the recent NEWS of Derrick Henry being on the trading block, maybe there was something lurking between these lines.

It is quite possible that Henry was already aware of his future, and was just scouting out his next potential team.

From an idealistic standpoint, the New England Patriots are in no need of a running back. But with the playing style that they have incorporated, adding Henry could be a huge boost to their depth.

Not to mention, Patriots enjoy the services of arguably the greatest coach of all time. Bill Belichick has always liked Derrick Henry, other than that one night in 2020 when Henry went on to terrorize the entire Patriots team, eventually finishing with a 20-13 win.

Belichick even deemed Henry “the best back we’ve seen this year” back in 2019.

Needless to say, Henry would be an enhancement to an already unstoppable backfield at New England, and maybe that is the missing piece for them.

A reputation to uphold

Derrick Henry has managed to establish himself as one of the best running backs in the entire NFL, and the man has to maintain that. His unique style of rushing and enormous stature have even earned him the moniker “King Henry”. Even last season Henry finished second in the entire league with 1,538 rushing yards.

With each team trying to buff up their rosters, Derrick Henry deserves to be among the most sought-after athletes. His sheer presence can be an advantage for any team if they somehow manage to put him in an ideal spot.
