The Cincinnati Bengals downed the Kansas City Chiefs 27-24 in the Arrowhead Stadium to claim the AFC Championship Sunday afternoon. It was a magical moment for quarterback Joe Burrow since he has led his franchise to great heights in just two years in the NFL. The league has been all praises for the surprising hero, and so is the American Rap icon Kid Cudi.

Well, that was bound to happen since the journey of the Bengals with the quarterback has been no less than the rags to riches kind of story. Cincinnati drafted the QB as the first overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. His debut season did not get the necessary attention since the quarterback picked up a season-ending ACL injury halfway through the 2020 season.

However, this time it was a completely different story altogether. The 25-year-old rose the team from the ashes and helped them clinch a berth in the Super Bowl for the first time since 1989. But it was not a cakewalk for him to do so. The Cincinnati Bengals pulled off an amazing comeback from an 18 point deficit and that too against the Patrick Mahomes led Kansas City Chiefs in their home.
Joe Burrow and Kid Cudi showering respect for each other
Following his big win, the young quarterback gave a big shout-out to his favorite rap artist Kid Cudi on Sunday which was also his 38th birthday. “One of my idols growing up, Kid Cudi reached out to me yesterday. You said I got LeBron tweeting me or whatever you said it was,” Burrow told reporters post-game. “That part is surreal; the football part, not so much.”

However, this is not the first time that the quarterback has mentioned Cudi as his favorite artist in public. He even mentioned the veteran rapper as his favorite artist of all time, and since then the two have remained good friends.
In response to that, Cudi even recorded a video message for the then-rookie, showering him with love and support for his new start as an NFL athlete.
Burrow’s favorite tracks
During the press conference, when the Super Bowl candidate quarterback was asked about his favorite tracks of Kid Cudi, the quarterback replied, “I listen to strictly Kid Cudi pregame. ‘New York City Rage Fest,’ ‘Soundtrack 2 My Life,’ ‘ Up Up & Away.’ All that good stuff from old Cudi.” Later, he also mentioned other classic tracks of the 38-year-old rap icon, such as “Soundtrack 2 My Life” and “Up Up & Away” as the ones that star his playlist.

Clearly, the two have a lot of love and respect for each other. But let’s see how much that playlist charges up the quarterback to slay the mighty Rams in their home. The Cincinnati Bengals will be on road to SoFi Stadium on February 13 for the Super Bowl LVI. Who are you rooting for? Let us know in the comments below!
