The Cowboys’ linebacker was the Defensive Rookie of the Year for 2021. He was drafted in the first round by the Cowboys post his stupendous showing for Penn State. In just his second season in the league, he is turning some heads.

Micah Parsons and his burst onto the scene

Micah Parsons is a name that resonates with every Dallas football fan. The young linebacker has lit up the league since his entry. In just 8 games this season, he has recorded 8 sacks. His first sack for the year came against the legendary Tom Brady.

He has also recorded 36 tackles already, 26 of which were solo efforts. The defensive force is also an overall asset for the team. He even has a fumble recovery for a touchdown to his name this season.

At the season halfway mark, these are solid numbers to keep the youngster inspired to keep delivering at the same rate. If the numbers weren’t enough inspiration, Parsons has got Cowboys legend Jimmy Johnson raving about him too.

Johnson even rated him above the Giants’ legendary linebacker, Lawrence Taylor. While most young LB would take pride in being in the same sentence as Taylor, Parsons finds himself in a spot above the rest of the lot.

On the podcast, Johnson spoke of how he sees him play every week. “I know my buddy Bill Belichick is gonna get mad at me, but Parsons may be the best player I’ve seen. Of course, Bill is gonna say, Lawrence Taylor. But Micah Parsons amazes me. He’s a special individual.”

That’s a lot coming from a coach that has worked with some of the biggest names in football. Bill Belichick had publicly claimed Lawrence Taylor as the best he had seen for all that he did for the Giants.
