The Dallas Cowboys open their doors to training camps in full swing. But America’s Team fans would still have a few reservations in some aspects. One is HC Mike McCarthy, being in the hot seat after not delivering a Super Bowl-worthy season. But GM/President Jerry Jones makes a cryptic revelation on the position.
2021 was like a wake-up call for the Cowboys. Despite topping the NFC East, their playoff run was quite rocky. The San Francisco 49ers laid out the franchise in the wild-card round itself. It led to a lot of fingers being pointed towards Mike McCarthy. The Cowboys enthusiasts blamed him for his inability to clinch a Lombardi and continuing the franchise’s Super Bowl drought.

On Tuesday, Jerry Jones opens the press conference during the franchise’s training camp in Oxnard, California. While discussing an array of topics, he also addressed the impending dilemma on everybody’s mind regarding head coach Mike McCarthy.
Jones declared, “I want to be real clear: He wouldn’t be sitting here today if I didn’t think he was the man to lead this team to a Super Bowl. He would not be, and I have choices. So that’s not meant to be insensitive to anybody. That’s a fact.”

Jones acknowledged the Cowboys are emerging off a 12-win campaign under McCarthy’s leadership. It might give a strong sense of how he feels about the issues ringing his employment. After winning the NFC East, the HC’s second season in Dallas was a delight. However, the franchise’s playoff defeat in the first round was a dim note to conclude their campaign.

Jerry Jones’ positivity could show that Mike McCarthy will stay for a while. He had a stellar time in Green Bay and could emulate it in Dallas. HC Mike could shut the skeptics and make the hard run for a Super Bowl this year. However, if the GM needed someone as a replacement, he could have a couple of choices. Eventually, Jones could land up with a golden ticket to the iconic HC, Sean Payton.
Sean Payton most likely will coach again in 2023. Where he lands will be one of the biggest stories to monitor this season. A new report says he'd have interest in the Dolphins, Chargers, and Cowboys — if those jobs were open. https://t.co/TYcBorIxLL
