Nick Bosa has proved his worth with the San Francisco 49ers this season. As he nears the end of his rookie deal with the Niners, there might be a few teams sniffing around the situation to pounce. But Bosa isn’t worried about anything at the moment. The Niners’ pass rusher says he may even reject a $95+ million contract that would make him the highest-paid defender in the NFL.
The Niners will want Bosa to stay beyond next season due to his impressive performances at the heart of the best defense in the league. And Bosa has made his intentions clear about his future.

Nick Bosa has established himself as an elite pass rusher in the heart of the Niners’ defense. And it has only taken him four seasons to do that. Bosa’s rush to the quarterback is one of the main reasons that the Niners have such a great pass defense. And he is up for a contract extension. But does he want to become the highest-paid defender in the NFL?
“Not necessarily. We’ll just see where it goes,” Bosa told reporters on Tuesday.
Currently, the highest-paid NFL defender is Aaron Donald, who is on a $95 million contract with the Los Angeles Rams. But Bosa is not targeting that. He has other priorities.

“I’d love to be here, for sure. This is a great organization. They treat you as good as [anyone] can. I have amazing relationships here, so hopefully, yeah,” the Niners’ DE said. So, his priority is to stay a Niner in the future.

“I’m definitely going to have patience and probably not worry about it for some time. I have an amazing agent who will handle all that, and I’ll just enjoy my time off and get ready to roll next year,” Bosa said about his contract situation.

The Niners hit a goldmine when they got Bosa. And surely, they would do everything for him to stay.
The heart of the Niners’ defense
Nick Bosa came to the Niners as the second overall pick of the 2019 NFL draft. And he hasn’t looked back ever since. In the four years he has played for the red and gold, Bosa has racked up 43.0 QB sacks. He also has 156 total tackles of which 116 are solo. So, he really is the heart of the Niners’ defense.

Bosa took his game to another level in the 2022 season. He finished the regular season with 18.5 sacks, the highest in the league. The Niners made it to the NFC championship game but lost it to the Philadelphia Eagles due to injuries to all the available QBs. Still a stellar season. What does the future hold for Bosa?
