After making their way to the Super Bowl LIV last season, the San Francisco 49ers have had a season to forget in 2020. Kyle Shanahan’s boys are out of the playoff contention race after failing to build upon their performances from 2019. A large reason behind their dismal 2020 season is the host of injuries attributed to players such as George Kittle, Nick Bosa, Raheem Mostert and QB Jimmy Garoppolo.
However, the Red and Gold pulled off a surprise win in Week 16 as they outplayed NFC West opponents Arizona Cardinals on Saturday. Stand-in quarterback CJ Beathard was particularly impressive. He went 13 of 22, throwing for 182 yards and three passing touchdowns.

By beating their NFC West rivals on Saturday night, the 49ers did NFC North big boys Chicago Bears a huge favour. The latter is in the mix for a playoff spot. They needed the Cardinals to drop points in Week 16 in order to make their path to post-season a little easier.
But no 49ers player was more delighted with Saturday’s win than highly-rated tight end George Kittle. The Niners superstar revealed his delight in the post-game press meet as he said “The fact that we helped the Bears a little bit just makes me a little happier. … I f–king love the Bears.”
At present, the Bears are 7-7 heading into Week 16. They remain unbeaten in their last two league encounters and are second in the NFC North. Matt Nagy’s boys go up against the struggling Jacksonville Jaguars tonight. They need to win both their remaining games, including a final week showdown against arch-rivals the Green Bay Packers.
