The San Francisco 49ers recently announced that they are ready to move ahead with Trey Lance as their starting quarterback. That leaves former 49ers QB1 Jimmy Garoppolo in a tough situation. His exit from the team is inevitable, but no team has shown interest in getting him so far.

As a result, the situation around the San Francisco 49ers’ camp is tense related to Garoppolo. Jimmy G, despite his flaws, is a winning quarterback, and his head coach, Kyle Shanahan, also knows that. Shanahan appeared on the ‘I AM ATHLETE’ podcast and was asked about the situation around Garoppolo.
Kyle Shanahan said, “We both know the situation, So, whenever you know the situation you know each other there’s. You talk about it all right and I talk about his side and his situation. He understands my side, our team side, and this is part of business, so when you do that and it’s hard on everybody I mean, I feel for him having to go through this.”
He added, “That’s how these contracts are and that’s part of the business and when you do have relationship and people understand each other he knows we’re doing as good as we can without hurting our own building, and um I think he respects that from us and I respect him as always.”
Jimmy Garoppolo and Kyle Shanahan still have a great relationship. Both of them know it’s part of the business, and heading into the future, a young quarterback will be better for the 49ers.

As of now, no team is heavily pursuing Jimmy Garoppolo. However, that could change quickly once the season resumes. If Zach Wilson’s injury is serious, then the New York Jets might also be interested in getting Garoppolo.
Moreover, the situation in Cleveland is one to keep an eye on. Teams like the Seattle Seahawks and the New York Giants could also show an interest in getting Jimmy G once the season starts.

Garoppolo is a winner, and all these teams need a winning quarterback. Due to it, it’s unlikely that Garoppolo will finish this year on the roster of the San Francisco 49ers.
