Josh Allen is the cog around which the whole Buffalo Bills system functions. And the franchise wants to protect such a prized asset. The Bills have set a new benchmark for the QB to follow from the 2023 season. This comes amid free agent cornerback Richard Sherman’s criticism of Allen and another prominent star.
Sherman has blamed Allen, along with Patrick Mahomes, for the situation that Lamar Jackson finds himself in this offseason. But what is it that the Bills want their quarterback to do differently when the new NFL season kicks off?

Josh Allen is a type of QB who is fearless on the football field. He doesn’t shy away from taking hits if it means that his team continues to move forward. But the Bills head coach Sean McDermott wants to change that situation. He wants Allen to take fewer hits next season.
“I don’t think that’s a healthy way to play quarterback in this league and it’s undefeated that things are going to happen when you play that style,” McDermott said to Judy Battista of NFL.com.

Richard Sherman blamed both Allem and Mahomes
Richard Sherman doesn’t believe that Josh Allen is to blame for the contract situation of Lamar Jackson because he takes a lot of hits. According to the former Seattle Seahawks cornerback, it is because he listens to his franchise too much.
Sherman believes that the likes of Allen and the Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes should have taken a fully guaranteed deal. Especially after Kirk Cousins did it with the Minnesota Vikings in 2018. But both took a very team friendly deal, and that is why team owners are going back on such terms.
