The Chiefs beat Justin Herbert and the Chargers at Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday in an absolutely thrilling fashion. Patrick Mahomes led the offense to a 52-yard drive with 1:30 left to go. The 2020 Super Bowl MVP connected with tight end Travis Kelce for the game-winning touchdown against their divisional rivals.
The Kansas City Chiefs won their fourth game in a row and sit comfortably at the top of the AFC West Division. The Chiefs also beat the Los Angeles Chargers last year in Week 15 of the season in an overtime thriller. However, the win is not the only common with the way things went down on Sunday. Mahomes and Kelce had major déjà vu when they ran the exact same play to win that they used in the 2021 December matchup with the Chargers.

The Kansas City Chiefs showed supreme confidence in the offense when they didn’t even bother to use a newly devised play on the final drive for the win. Chiefs head coach Andy Reid called the same play from last year’s overtime win against the Chargers. “In that situation in my head I was like, ‘Man, there’s no way we can get them again on the same play’. I didn’t think we’d beat them. Luckily enough, we called the play at a good time, when they were in outside leverage in man coverage,” Mahomes said after the 30-27 win at home.
Patrick Mahomes spoke highly of wide receiver Justin Watson who misguided Chargers’ safety Derwin James and created ample space for No 87 TE Travis Kelce. Kelce also completed his hat-trick of receiving touchdowns with his game-winning effort. “Once you get it to Kelce in space, it seems like he always finds a way to get into the end zone,” the Chiefs’ QB said about his record-breaking tight end.
