Jerry Jones has seen a lot of controversies in his life. And the Dallas Cowboys owner has remained largely unfazed by them. He is concentrating on getting the Super Bowl title back to Dallas after 27 years. Even the latest controversy about him is not distracting him from his goal.

A controversial 1957 photo of him came out some time back in the media. And now Jones has revealed that he genuinely missed seeing the photograph for 65 long years.

Jerry Jones opened up about his controversial photo from the Little Rock Central High School in an interview. Talking to USA Today, he said he didn’t even see the photograph at all before it came out in the media. “Be that as it may, I didn’t even read a newspaper. I sure didn’t look at television,” Jones said.

He maintained that he was just a curious observer in that photograph and had no ill intentions for being there. “The way I grew up – and that article touched on the way I grew up a little bit – and the way that picture portrayed, I have always been sensitive about the inequities that were involved in those times. I was there. With sensitivity. At that time. I respect what those students stood for and what they were trying to do,” Jones added.

Back in November last year, the Washington Post published the photo of young Jones standing in the background as many students tried to stop black students from integrating into the high school. That was the height of segregation days when the civil rights movement was gaining momentum. And Jones has maintained that he was just curious about what was happening.

The controversy notwithstanding, the 80-year-old billionaire is locked in for the Cowboys’ Super Bowl run. And standing between them and the Vince Lombardi trophy is none other than Tom Brady.

The playoffs calling

The Cowboys have made it to the playoffs and are getting ready to go against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the wildcard round. They are the favorites in the game, going into it with a better regular season record. And Jerry Jones would feel confident about his team’s chances this season.

The Cowboys last won a Super Bowl way back in 1996 and the franchise fans are crying for another shot at the glory. And all that pressure falls on the shoulders of Dak Prescott. And on top of that, they are facing the formidable Tom Brady.
