The Las Vegas Raiders benched their quarterback Derek Carr for their final two games of the season. The black and silver army replaced the nine-year veteran with former New England Patriots QB Jarrett Stidham. However, Stidham’s 3 touchdowns and 365 passing yards were not enough in their last 37-34 loss to the San Francisco 49ers last week.

And one person was happier than all other Raider haters. Derek Carr’s brother David did not appreciate the way the organization potentially ended things with their QB. David, who is a former NFL quarterback and a Houston Texans first pick in the 2002 draft, thought that his brother deserved way more credit than the organization ever gave him.

Derek is the all-time franchise passing leader for the Raiders with his 35,222 yards thrown. In almost a decade, Carr saw six head coaches leave and some talented players follow them out like Khalil Mack and Amari Cooper. However, Derek didn’t turn his back and showed supreme loyalty, even bringing in Fresno State teammate and best friend, Davante Adams, in the last off-season.

David may have answered the retirement concerns about his brother Derek. “When I look at it, it wasn’t Derek that changed. It was the Raiders that changed. So when I go forward with Derek, that conversation about him being retired, or a Raider is no longer an option,” the elder Carr brother said on NFL Network’s Gameday Kickoff show.

Is Derek ‘Carr 4 Sale’ then?

However, there was some blowback for David Carr. Fans brought up the sibling bias and Derek’s lack of a playoff victory in 9 years. Carr also led the league in interceptions this season, until he was sidelined this week.

The Raiders made a few moves in the past week that are more than direct to establish their intent towards Derek Carr. First off, they benched him. Then Derek left the Raiders camp to avoid being a distraction in the remaining two games. After that, the final nail in the coffin seemed to be the signing of QB Chase Garbers from the practice squad. Seemingly in preparation for next season.

He’s gonna look for teams that have a stable situation between their head coach and their ownership. Stable. He’s also gonna be looking for a team that is also looking for a quarterback that has a reputation for game-winning drives and 4th quarter comebacks,” Derek Carr’s brother said about the quarterback’s future.
