A new era is set to begin under the leadership of Eric Bieniemy after he made his way to the Commanders’ locker room. Despite guiding Kansas City towards the coveted title twice in the last four years, Bieniemy’s play-calling abilities were questioned by veterans like LeSean McCoy. Those disparaging remarks didn’t go well with his ardent supporters once they caught wind of the matter. Recently, the reigning Super Bowl Champion, Patrick Mahomes came forward to address the issue and defended the integrity of his former OC.

McCoy had to face the wrath of netizens after he publicly called out Bieniemy for having zero involvement in the passing job. He alleged that the veteran coach coattails Andy Reid when it comes to strategizing and calling the plays. Instantly, these comments circulated like wildfire on social media, with Bieniemy himself coming forward with a befitting reply.

Bieniemy nailed the opportunity by addressing the issue like a king as rightly mentioned by Robert Griffin III in his Twitter post. Soon Mahomes, who happened to be a long-time supporter, defended the integrity of his former coach.

“There should be no questions on how great of a man/coach Coach Bieniemy is. His leadership has had a direct impact on the player/person I am today! 10+ years learning under one of the greatest coaches of all time.. and I cannot wait for him to continue to prove doubters wrong!” Mahomes tweeted following Bieniemy’s public reply.

Indeed, all those Super Bowl victories and creative plays executed by the Chiefs’ Offensive unit are true evidence of this notion. Otherwise, why would a franchise like the Chiefs reserve an OC job for such a long time?

Bieniemy essayed several roles during his tenure at Kansas City. He secured the top job as the OC from 2018 to 2022 and guided the team to two title victories. This success paved the way for him to look for new opportunities in the market.

Commanders happened to strike at the right moment and extended a great offer for Bieniemy to make a transition. Subsequently, he was formally introduced as the Washington Commanders’ offensive Coordinator and assistant coach on Thursday (per The ProFootballTalk).

Netizens appreciate Patrick Mahomes for vocalizing his support for Bieniemy

It will be interesting to see how much impact the veteran creates in a new environment. Especially under a defensive-minded HC in Ron Rivera. However, at the moment, he has all the support from the NFL community worldwide.

Bieniemy has a lot of work to do because the Commanders have been struggling to find a franchise quarterback. Unlike KC, with Mahomes at the helm, the coach will have to grind more to find the way out. Without a doubt, it is going to be a fun campaign for the Washington Commanders in the upcoming season.
