

After the charity golf tournament involving Phil Mickelson, Tiger Woods, Peyton Manning and Tom Brady, Mickelson is open to more. The pro golfer even wished for the likes of Michael Jordan, Stephen Curry and Patrick Mahomes to join in on the fun.
Mickelson confessed that he would love to see The Match golf tournament played annually. This tournament would be open to athletes from other fields so that they can also participate.
Earlier this weekend, Mickelson teamed up with Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady. They went up against Tiger Woods and Peyton Manning, but lost The Match: Champions for Charity. According to the statistics, the event was the most-watched golf telecast in cable TV history. The match even raised $20 million for coronavirus relief efforts.

Mickelson hopes to entice the likes of Patrick Mahomes and more
“I think you could showcase guys like Steph Curry and Michael Jordan or Tony Romo and Patrick Mahomes, who are all good golfers, elite talents and have great personalities,” Mickelson told the Los Angeles Times.
“Those personalities are going to come out with this event. Or you could have someone who loves the game and is competitive but is really entertaining like Larry David and Bill Murray. I think that could shine.”]

To his credit, Patrick Mahomes was game and even expressed his excitement on Twitter. The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback and his team are reportedly locked in contract talks. In fact, rumour has it that the new contract could make him the highest-paid player.
As per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Mahomes could receive the NFL’s first $200 million contract. Mahomes is currently set to earn $5.3 million between his base salary, roster bonus and signing bonus in 2020. The 24-year-old was named NFL MVP in 2018 and Super Bowl LIV MVP after leading the Chiefs to a 31-20 victory over the San Francisco 49ers
