While the NFL fanbase is kind to the humble, they’re brutal to the arrogant and Rodgers’ most recent statement might be perceived as arrogant. The quarterback recently made a controversial statement that could potentially invalidate the whole history of the Packers. While he was on the Pat McAfee show, Rodgers said, “I am debatably the best player in franchise history.” Given the kind of accolades Rodgers has accumulated, this might not be far from the truth. However, it did not sit well with fans. The founder of Cheesehead TV, Aaron Nagler, took to Twitter to fire back.
I do agree. It’s debatable. https://t.co/BEKwZ9AURK
— Aaron Nagler (@AaronNagler) March 19, 2023
As a devoted Packers fan, Nagler did not seem to like the statement Rodgers made, and he made it clear. His take went viral on Twitter, both among the NFL fanbase as well as Packers nation.
Nagler’s response went on to garner some interesting reactions from the fanbase. They did not hold back as they took to Twitter to share their own thoughts on Rodgers’ statement.
NFL fans humble Rodgers on Twitter
While they might have crowned Rodgers the GOAT on their own, A-Rod’s statement made fans turn the other way. One fan mentioned NFL legend Bart Starr to hold up a mirror for Rodgers.
Bart Starr won 2 Superbowls and 3 NFL championships… Different eras, but in the modern version of GOAT criteria Starr is miles ahead. Rodgers undeniably better than Favre and they are the only two to consider in modern era …

Furthermore, fans went on to restate their love for Bart Starr’s achievements.
Talented yes, Bart Starr is the most winningest QB in franchise history. Eli Manning and Big Ben with less talent won 2 SBs each.

Additionally, fans mentioned that the way a player plays isn’t everything.
Gotta look at character also
— TwilightZoner (@Samsmith536) March 20, 2023
Furthermore, fans also compared Rodgers to the league’s standard of greatness as well.
The Aaron Rodgers vs Tom Brady debate. Rodgers is better, but Brady wins more.
Rodgers is better, but Starr won more. Hell, even Favre went to 2 super bowls.
— Joel Metzger (@JMetzger92) March 19, 2023
Older fans also went on to state who they think is the best Packer of all time.
Im 73, fan since '66 so for me, it's debatable with everyone else EXCEPT Bart Starr. As a player, leader and man of character he has no Packer equal.
— Packers1566 (@packers1566) March 20, 2023
Finally, some fans were perplexed by the manner in which Rodgers stated his opinion.
Most players say “I’ll leave that for you guys to decide”. It’s just strange.
