This year, several franchises had their hopes to clinch the postseason. But that did not happen. After the regular season ended, some teams are eyeing to have Sean Payton. He could uplift the roster and make it a powerful team. But having the former New Orleans Saints HC would come at a cost, as an Ex-NFL executive said he is worth more than a first-round pick.

Former NFL executive Michael Lombardi joined TMZ Sports for an interaction. The former analyst said how shelling out big money for top coaches has worked out almost every time. The situation could also work with Sean Payton, one of the league’s best coaching assets. But the Saints will not let him go just like that.

Michael Lombardi said, “I think anytime that you’ve gone through these coaches that have gotten traded, the team that made the trade really won. So, yeah. Whatever it costs.” He also discussed the success of Tampa Bay’s trade for Jon Gruden and the Patriots’ risk for Bill Belichick. However, the Saints may have a high price tag for Sean Payton. They could ask for a minimum of a first-round pick in a trade. Moreover, the price would vary from team to team.

It is worth noting that the former NFL coach has had interactions with several teams for the position of head coach. Sean Payton is currently the most desirable coach to build and develop any franchise as a behemoth-level contender.

Eventually, it could have a positive approach toward Denver’s case and the deal could be sealed rather quickly. The Broncos are a formidable team, and they would require Payton to be their missing piece in order to compete for the championship.
