The younger Douglas, also named Hugh Douglas, was a college student, and met an untimely demise in a fatal car accident at the age of 20, near Atlanta. The crash unfolded in East Point, suburban Atlanta, shortly after 5 p.m. According to a preliminary report from the Georgia State Patrol, the tragic accident occurred when Douglas and his college friend, Christion Files Jr., were driving at high speed, attempting to overtake another vehicle. 

Their car veered off the road, colliding with two utility poles before overturning, leading to both young men being pronounced dead at the scene. Douglas and Files Jr., both aged 20, were close friends and roommates, pursuing their college degrees with promising futures ahead. They were on track to graduate in 2025. 

In the wake of this tragic incident, tributes have been pouring in for both of them. The Morehouse College community, deeply affected by their loss, is coming together to remember and celebrate the lives of these exceptional young men, leaving behind a legacy of excellence, passion, and dedication.

In his poignant message, Douglas expressed his deep sorrow, stating, “You were already a better man than me.” Moreover, Philadelphia Eagles Football 24/7 Facebook account wrote, “Sending prayers to Hugh Douglas and his family and the family of Christian Files after the loss of his sons. Hugh Douglas and Christian Files Jr. were set to graduate in 2025 before they were killed in a crash over the weekend. The roommates were Sophomores at Morehouse College.”
