The move saved the Seahawks an instant $16 million in salary-cap space. At the same time an opportunity to accommodate new players in place of the linebacker. The free agent was recently selected by the reigning Super Bowl champions Los Angeles Rams in a lucrative five-year deal. With his current performance, Wagner might become a mainstay for the team.
All about Wagner’s deal with the Los Angeles Rams
The 31-year-old veteran is a prominent linebacker in the current decade of the NFL. The star will be entering his 11th season along with one of the top NFC West teams, after agreeing upon a five-year contract.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Wagner has signed a five-year, $50 million deal worth up to $65 million with the Los Angeles Rams.

With the entry of Wagner into the team, the Rams roster gets loaded with exceptional talents. Cornerback Jalen Ramsey, defensive lineman Aaron Donald, and Bobby Wagner will lead the defense. While on the offensive side, the Pro-Bowl quarterback Matthew Stafford will control the attack.
Interestingly, Aaron Donald, Jalen Ramsey, and Bobby Wagner combined for 21 Pro Bowls, and 16 All-Pro selections, and have won a combined three Super Bowls. This season Wagner was destined to carry a salary cap of $20.6 million, which is pretty huge from the perspective of the Seahawks. Thus, trading the linebacker, helped the Seahawks save $16 million instantly.
The previous season was one of the best campaigns of Wagner’s career. Wagner set a career-high in tackles in a single season, recording 170 total tackles. Moreover, Wagner received the second-team All-Pro selection, which ended his streak of five straight first-team selections.
Bobby Wagner was upset with the Seahawks’ abrupt decision on releasing him
After completing a successful 10-year campaign with the Seattle Seahawks, the newly recruited Rams linebacker publicly spoke about the miscommunication that happened between him and the Seahawks’ front office.

“I think after 10 years, it’s just simple communication. I don’t think it has to be that difficult.” Wagner told reporters shortly after signing his new contract with the Rams.
On March 11, the six-time All-pro claimed that despite playing with the club for the past ten years, the front office never informed him personally about his release.
