The Big Apple is known for its bright lights and unwavering sports fans. But above all, New York City is known for its relentless media scrutiny. When Aaron Rodgers made the move from the Green Bay Packers to the New York Jets earlier this offseason, the bright lights of New York have been all over the new ‘King of New York.’ But as the saying goes, “With great power, comes great responsibility.”

With his superstar status in New York, the QB is bound to be at the center of attention for sports fans and especially the media. But while Rodgers has dealt with media attention all his life, one thing is for certain. Nothing surpasses the eager eye of New York media. In fact, one of Rodgers biggest fans, Rich Eisen himself, called out the QB to give him a reality check.

Since joining the Jets, Rodgers has embraced the vibrant New York City scene. Attending concerts, enjoying the Tony Awards, and immersing himself in the city’s culture, he has been hailed as the ‘King of New York.’ However, Eisen points out that Rodgers has yet to experience the relentless scrutiny and tabloid sensationalism that often accompany New York media coverage.

“When Aaron Rodgers joined the Jets, my concern was, how is he going to handle the New York scene? And it’s been hand in glove right. It’s been a Love Fest… But my concern is going to be, what happens when the New York media covers aspects outside of his football World in a way that was never discussed or on a front page or a back page in Green Bay?” Eisen said on his show.

The media coverage thus far has been a love fest, with headlines focusing on his off-field ventures and charming persona. Should the Jets encounter a rocky start to their season, the headlines may swiftly turn against him. The media may question his ability to lead the team and will mercilessly probe the locker room dynamics. But Rodgers seems to be unfazed by these concerns, as he continues his own battle in the media.

A-Rod continues fight for ‘drug’ legalisation

As Rodgers prepares to step into this new chapter of his career, he must be prepared to face the full force of the New York media. But in the meantime, the QB took the stage at a psychedelics conference in Denver to continue his fight to legalize hallucinogens. The city was the prime location for the conference, having recently legalized psychedelic mushrooms.

Rodgers, who has documented his own experiences with the hallucinogen Ayahuasca, spoke at the conference about his views on legally obtaining such psychedelics across the country. After crediting his success to the usage of drugs such as Ayahuasca, the QB even went on to claim that many professional athletes use hallucinogens to enhance their performance. With the media ready to come down upon these comments, we might finally find out if Aaron Rodgers is ready for the bright lights of New York City.
