It is always a dream come true for the rookies playing in the NFL to interact with the legends of the game. Being able to share the field with these idols is an achievement in itself. This relishing moment was once tasted by the Jets quarterback Joe Flacco, who narrated an incident involving Hall of Famers Ray Lewis and former safety Ed Reed.

In the recent press conference after the training sessions, Flacco, who got drafted in 2008, gave a flashback of his rookie days with the Baltimore Ravens.

The 38-year-old is currently backing up for Zach Wilson, who incurred a new injury this offseason. After leading the offensive unit in the first match, the veteran is gearing up to play in his second preseason face-off against the Atlanta Falcons.

While speaking to the reporters, he recalled being a wide-eyed youngster back in 2008 and entering the room filled with greats of the game.

Especially he cherishes the moment he spent with his idols, former linebacker Ray Lewis and Safety Ed Reed. “I don’t know if I’d ever be looked at like Ray or Ed,’’ Flacco said.

“Those guys were just next-level. I remember walking into the locker room and seeing those guys for the first time. When you see those guys, it’s different. You grow up watching them. I look back and think how fortunate I was to play with those guys.’’ he added. Flacco played for almost 14 seasons in the league.

He spent most of the time with the Baltimore Ravens after getting acquired in the first round of the NFL draft. Four years later, he played a pioneering role in winning his career-first Super Bowl title against the San Francisco 49ers in the 2012 season.

The 47-year-old linebacker spent 17 seasons with the Ravens and became an irreplaceable asset for the team’s overall development. Owing to his records, the veteran was inducted into the pro-football hall of fame in 2018.

Jets quarterback Flacco revealed that he will never forget the first time when he met the legend. “The first time I touched his shoulder….it was like the hardest surface I’ve ever touched in my life,’’ he said to the reporters.

In his entire career, Flacco won 118 games and passed for more than 41,000 yards. He is a likely prospect to get inducted into the NFL hall of fame in the future.
