Colin Kaepernick has been out of the NFL since 2017. He had a great stint with the San Francisco 49ers, but later the two parties didn’t fit well with each other. Kaepernick opted out of his contract in 2017 and became a free agent.

Unfortunately for him, since then, no team has decided to sign him. It has been over 5 years, but still, Colin Kaepernick isn’t on the roster of any NFL team. However, he once came very close to landing the QB1 role for a great franchise.

It was the Baltimore Ravens. The AFC North team was quite interested in bringing in Kaepernick as their starting quarterback in the year of 2017. It was revealed by a former Ravens player, Ray Lewis. That deal broke through because of Kaepernick’s longtime girlfriend Nessa Diab.

During the discussions around the deal, Nessa Diab tweeted a photo that compared Lewis and Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti to the characters in ‘Django Unchained’. In the legendary film, Samuel L. Jackson plays a loyal slave and Leonardo DiCaprio is the plantation owner.

Following this tweet, the deal was stalled. The real reasons were never revealed, but it is very likely that Nessa Diab could be the reason why Kaepernick didn’t become the starting quarterback of the Baltimore Ravens. As a result, he still is out of the league.

Not signing Colin Kaepernick turned out to be a great decision for the Ravens

Nobody knows how great or bad Colin Kaepernick would have been on the Baltimore Ravens. However, by not signing Kaepernick, the Ravens were able to bring in an elite quarterback later.
