There have been a couple of crazy trade stories over the past few weeks. But perhaps none have been able to capture the attention of NFL fans quite like the one involving Houston Texans QB Deshaun Watson.
Watson’s discontent with the side is clear. The franchise has been on a downward spiral since the start of last season. First, the franchise let go of star wideout DeAndre Hopkins in a trade that was viewed by many as one of the worst in recent history in terms of value.
Then followed the sacking of Head Coach and GM Bill O’Brien for a disastrous start to the season. Add to that a lackluster overall unit, the Texans fell to a 4-12 record in 2020.

With the Texans looking to rebuild, Watson wants out given the lack of cooperation shown by the franchise while hiring new Head Coach David Culley and GM Nick Caserio.
The franchise, however, is committed to keeping a hold on Watson. GM Nick Caserio has earlier said that the franchise will not be taking any calls for the QB in the recent past. And this time, it’s the new Head Coach who follows suit.
Texans not letting go of Deshaun Watson
During a recent press conference, Culley responding to a reporter’s question said that he was unaware of Deshaun Watson wanting a trade.
“I don’t know about him not wanting to be a Houston Texan. I just know he’s a Houston Texan, he’s ours, and we’re going to go with that,” said the Texans Head Coach.
Culley further emphasized that Deshaun Watson was the team’s QB1 heading into 2021. “We are very committed to Deshaun as our quarterback.”

When questioned about Deshaun Watson’s commitment to the franchise, Culley hopes to receive the same from Watson. “With the commitment we made to him, I feel like that same commitment would be made to us,” Culley added.
