Before the Cincinnati Bengals and Baltimore Ravens clashed last night, few expected the Cincinnati-based side to win, let alone win in a dominating fashion. The Bengals proved everyone, including the odds, wrong as they thrashed the Ravens 41-17. While the victory was a team effort, Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase were simply on another level last night.

Ja’Marr Chase, with his historic performance last night, broke multiple records. With his fiery start to this year’s NFL campaign, it looks like the young rookie is on his way to winning the NFL offensive Rookie of the Year.

After blasting through opposition defenses in his first six outings, Chase arguably faced his first actual test of the season against a solid Baltimore Ravens defense. The Ravens defense, which boasts the likes of Marlon Humphrey was sent to cleaners by the rookie wide receiver. On top of that, Chase also broke the record to have the most points in Baltimore since the Boyd game in 2017.

In his first seven games this season, he has also set an NFL record for receiving yards by a player. He entered the game with 27 receptions for 553 yards and five touchdowns and left with 754 yards, thus making him the first player in NFL history to have 700+ receiving yards in his first seven games.

Will Chase be the NFL offensive Rookie of the Year?

A 21-year-old rookie with one great college football season under his belt currently leads the AFC in receiving yards, yards per catch, and touchdown receptions. He is also tied for the league lead in receiving touchdowns.

Moreover, having received eight catches for 201 yards and a score in the Cincinnati Bengals’ blowout victory against division-rivals Baltimore Ravens in Week 7, it is easy to say Ja’Marr Chase is running away with the NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Year award if he continues playing like this.
