Home/NFL

Tom Brady did not have a picture-perfect homecoming the NFL world would’ve imagined. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers lost to the San Francisco 49ers 7-35. To top off the Bucs’ misery, they lost to a team led by a third-string quarterback in his first career start. The sheer brilliance of Brock Purdy overshadowed Brady’s glorious return home.

Brady was very much looking forward to the game. A San Mateo native, TB12 grew up watching the Niners and supporting them throughout his childhood and college life. As luck would have it, the 49ers pass over Brady in the 200o NFL draft. Additionally, the QB hasn’t gotten more than one opportunity to play in San Francisco despite his long career. What was Brady’s reaction to suffering this loss?

Tom Brady let something important slip his mind

This was the seven-time Super Bowl champion’s opportunity to put on a show for his home crowd. But unfortunately, the Niners’ sensational QB rained on Brady’s parade. Quite obviously, Brady wasn’t the happiest camper after their defeat. But he was still a good sport and met Purdy mid-field after the game. Post their loss, Brady opened up about what he was feeling on his podcast, ‘Let’s Go!’. Brady revealed that he had a sleepless night and took responsibility for the bad throws that were made. But the quarterback could not mope too much over the loss, as his guests on the show were three hilarious individuals. On the latest episode of his podcast, Brady featured Adam Sandler, Tracy Morgan, and Bill Burr.

Amid jokes and laughs, they spoke about the pressure of performing in front of friends and family. TB12 also included an anecdote from the previous evening. He said, “I actually was just walking to the bus, and I was about right to the bus. It’s kind of a long walk from the locker room to the bus, probably you know, 500 yards or so. Just as I got to the bus, the woman who I was with said, ‘Hey, didn’t you want to see your family?’ I said, ‘They stayed?'” Fortunately, Brady did not miss out on seeing a few members of his family, including his sisters, nieces, and cousins. TB12 was presumably too consumed by the loss to remember that his family was present to see him. But this is surprising because his actions prior to the game are something not easily forgotten.

Brady and the Bucs are in for a ride

According to ESPN Reporter Jeff Darlington, Brady requested 83 tickets for the Bucs versus 49ers game for his family and friends. 83 is a lot of people to have your back. With their loss to the Niners, the Bucs have a record of 6-7 this season. Despite their sub-par performances, they have managed to keep the top spot in the NFC South because of a poorly performing division overall.

But the Falcons and Panthers who are tied for second place will be at their heels soon enough. While they need to win their upcoming games, Brady and the Bucs have a challenge ahead of them as they take on Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals. Although this won’t be the easiest of tasks, the Bucs are in desperate need of a victory.
