Patrick Mahomes and his $210 million deal is the talk of the NFL town right now. While the game on Sunday witnessed a powerful display of skills from the Kansas City Chiefs as they outdrove the Jacksonville Jaguars, it was the Chiefs’ QB who turned all the heads. Not only through his game-changing two touchdowns but also with the million-dollar contract he earned. However, the numbers on the settlement did not impress everyone.

One such individual who argued against the 4-year deal was none other than the former NFL star, Shannon Sharpe. The 3-time Super Bowl Champion came forth with bold claims and his bag of facts. All this is to show support to the player who belongs to a different “stratosphere.,” per the football veteran.

In a recent Nightcap podcast, former NFL players Shannon Sharpe and Chad Johnson highlighted a topic surrounding the whole football world. Addressing Patrick Mahomes’ updated contract, the hosts emphasized how it has become a hope for one of the best QBs on board.

However, the element of interest kicked in when Johnson interrupted Sharpe with an edgy, “They sold petty over there.” His reference seemed a clear jab at the team for paying their key player amount much less than compared to the other Quarterbacks, including the highest-paid Joe Burrow.

The 55-year-old host, with a scoff, recalled the comment of “revisiting the contract after 2026” made by the Kansas City Chiefs after announcing the deal. In lieu of it, the former New England Patriots wide receiver commented about the 28-year-old being “worth every penny.” Without skipping a beat, Sharpe is quick to add an emphasized “every penny.”

Further, the Chicago native takes no time to reiterate, “He’s [Patrick Mahomes] underpaid to be honest.” Backing his comment with evident facts, the former footballer stated, “Every year he’s been a starter, he has advanced to the AFC Championship game.” Adding ahead, the athlete commented how the young star has previously made it to 3 Super Bowls in the 5 years he has been a starter, and won 2 among those.

Astonishingly, the footballer claimed Super Bowl MVP in 2 of those 5 years as well. Baffled by the comparisons made to other current players, Sharpe asked a bold rhetorical question: “Who can touch his resume?” Johnson, agreeing to the point made, commented how based on the resume, nobody comes even close to the Chiefs’ QB in making the game exciting and fun to watch.

Not the first time Sharpe praised Mahomes

While hours-old applaud might seem like the former defensive end extending his aid to Patrick Mahomes, it is not the first time the NFL cosmos has witnessed this scene. Just a few weeks back, credit to the enticing Chiefs-Lions clash, Shannon Sharpe came forth with a bag full of compliments.

Gushing over Mahomes elemental play under unusual circumstances, Sharpe tweeted,” Chiefs should give Mahomeboy 10 yrs a Billion dollars.” To reiterate his statement, the Illinois native crowned the 28-year-old as the “best QB” and per the legend, he deserved much more value than he was getting then.

These statements came forth while the deal had yet not been unveiled. Nevertheless, it is clear that the ex-football professional has full faith in Mahomes’ skills; so much as that earlier this year, Sharpe mentioned the possibility of the Chiefs’ QB overtaking Tom Brady by the time his career reaches twilight.
