The 2020 NFL season has not gone as per plan for Kyle Shanahan and the San Francisco 49ers. They remain at the bottom of the NFC West division table with a 6-9 recording heading into the final week of the regular season. They’ve been ravaged by injuries this season but they welcomed back star tight end George Kittle last weekend.
His impact on the weekend was massive as the Red and Gold made their way to a morale-boosting 12-20 win over Kyler Murray’s Arizona Cardinals. Third-string QB CJ Beathard started the game with Jimmy G and Nick Mullens out due to injury. The 49ers have also brought in former first-round pick Josh Rosen this month.
But despite the uncertainty surrounding Garoppolo, Kittle remains confident about his long-time ‘amigo’.

On a recent radio show feature, 49ers tight end George Kittle was asked to comment on the current quarterback situation in San Francisco. The top-paid tight end in the NFL backed his teammate and good friend, Jimmy Garoppolo, to come back fighting in 2021.
“I think I’ve said it multiple times, I love playing football with Jimmy G. Our team is different with him out there that’s why I love playing football with him…I can’t say enough about what great leader Jimmy G is.”

“His presence just kind of changes how the team is feeling, how the team goes about in practice every day. So Jimmy G is our quarterback, moving forward he’s our quarterback…he’s the guy who took us to the Super Bowl and played at a high-level last year,” Kittle said on the radio show.

Kittle and Garoppolo’s chemistry is scorching hot, on and off the football field. Despite a dismal performance in 2020, Kyle Shanahan’s boys are hoping to end the season on high in Week 17. After beating the Cardinals last weekend, they will look to pull off another upset by defeating NFC West champions Seattle Seahawks.
