It’s been a topsy-turvy offseason for Green Bay Packers’ star player Aaron Rodgers. The acquisition of Jordan Love in the NFL 2020 draft, and his breakup with long-term girlfriend Danica Patrick only sums up the start of 2020 for Rodgers. The California-born athlete is adored at Lambeau Field. But could this season be the beginning of the end for him?

Love, also born in California, signed his rookie four-year, fully guaranteed contract worth $12,383,470 with a signing bonus of $6,566,160 at the start of July. He is touted to be Rodgers’ long-term replacement for the Packers. However, former NFL star Shannon Sharpe is of the opinion that eight-time Pro Bowler Aaron Rodgers should not be written off just yet.

Aaron Rodgers is still “that dude”, claims Denver Broncos legend Shannon Sharpe

“He’s still the guy, Skip. Let me get this straight. I got no problem. Mahomes, Russ, no problem whatsoever. But I’ve been trying to tell you, for the last couple of years Skip, he [Aaron Rodgers] is still that dude.”

“There’s only two seasons in which a QB has thrown for more than 4k yards, 25 TDs, and less than 5 INTs. Aaron Rodgers had those two seasons in 2018 & 2019. Let that sink in. The NFL been playing football, now about to be a 101 years and only twice in NFL history, in Aaron Rodgers’ declining years, he did that. Can you imagine if he wasn’t declining?” Sharpe said on Skip and Shannon: Undisputed.

By no means can one suggest that Aaron Rodgers is a finished product in the NFL. As Sharpe cleverly pointed out, the veteran quarterback is still ready to perform at the highest level. Jordan Love’s arrival will only spur Rodgers to step up his game this season. Packers fans should expect their two-time NFL MVP to put in a stellar display this year. Surely, a run to the Super Bowl is not off the cards for Rodgers and Co. in 2020?
