The Cardinals offseason seems to have begun with constant shocks as rumors start to swirl about Murray. Even ESPN’s Chris Mortensen had recently reported during Super Bowl Sunday that some sources working in the Cardinals front office describe Murray as ‘self-centered, immature and finger pointer’.
Fitzgerald Sr., who is a veteran sportswriter and someone who offers opinions on the news, came across a tweet criticizing Murray. He only added to those comments while stating, “He’s spoiled, brings his Oklahoma offense to the NFL team has to catch up great talent. He’s never been humbled keep working.” While some of his comments might sound harsh, the reports surrounding Murray don’t do him any favors.
Is Kyler Murray a misunderstood character?
Following all the leaks and recent reports, it is evident that both the Cardinals franchise and Kyler Murray seem to be on the same page and are focused on winning football games. Murray believes that his competitiveness and determination to win, are not being reciprocated by the team to win games. All the comments about his immaturity stem from the fact that they suffered another second-half collapse against the eventual Super Bowl champions, the Los Angeles Rams.

A large portion of the blame for their disappointing 2021 season fell on his inability to lead the team. The franchise believes in Murray’s abilities and displays a commitment towards him to be their QB1. The Cardinals owner Michael Bidwill views Murray as part of their long-term plans and they may even reward him with a new contract soon enough.
The criticism that Murray receives might be because of how he comes across in public at times. But it might be his inner competitor, who has frustrations about how his team fails to get the job done. There is a lot of promise with Murray as they made the playoffs for the first time in 3 years. They seem to be eyeing for more of the same in the future.
