The 2019 season ended in disappointment for the Dallas Cowboys and their massive fan base. The Dallas-based franchise ended their season on a 8-8 record and failed to make the playoffs. Despite that, wide receivers Amari Cooper and Michael Gallup both managed to register 1,000 passing yards last year.
Under the new coach Mike McCarthy, the Cowboys will take a more direct approach going downfield. While speaking to the press after a recent preseason training session, McCarthy was questioned about the likes of Cooper, Gallup, and rookie WR CeeDee Lamb.

Dallas Cowboys’ new head coach has a host of talent at his disposal this season. Highly-rated quarterback Dak Prescott will remain in Dallas for this year at least, on a franchise tag worth $31.4 million. However, McCarthy has two proven wide receivers to choose from in the form of Amari Cooper and Michael Gallup.

“Well, let’s make it clear. Michael Gallup’s a No. 1 receiver in my view. I think we’re very fortunate to have three players with that level of potential to go out and play at that level. The reality of it is … everybody wants to look at numbers but really it comes down to opportunities. I’ve been so impressed with not only what Michael’s done on film last year. He was definitely one of the players that really jumped off the video during the offseason study … he’s primed to take that next step,” McCarthy said in a press conference.

McCarthy already had Cooper and Gallup on his team’s roster before the Cowboys brought in rookie CeeDee Lamb. The Cowboys will be aiming to make the playoffs with Dak Prescott as their shot-caller. Jerry Jones is hungry for another Super Bowl win. But the question is whether they can convert talent into results, and that is something that only time will reveal.
