He mentioned, “I love him. I’ve said this a few times. He’s the best player in football,” Simms said of Allen. “He is, to me, the last two years he’s outplayed Patrick Mahomes. I think those are the two best players in the game right now and if you made me choose one, I’d go Josh Allen and there’s nobody better in the league right now; he’s the best player in the NFL.”

In a tweet posted in January, analyst Simms mentions his love for the Chiefs quarterback and appreciated the improvement he made in the past two years. But also believes that Josh is better and needs a win over him to become the top QB.
Can Mahomes & Allen begin a duel like Brady vs. Manning?
One can’t deny that both athletes had a great run in 2021 as well, and their statistical comparison that is broadly similar. Even though Mahomes was a better passer than Allen and performed a lot more with his runs, they both gained nearly the same amount of offensive yards. Allen threw for 4,407 yards and 36 touchdowns, while Mahomes threw for 4,839 yards and 37 touchdowns.
