The Ravens QB had suffered a bone bruise and couldn’t help the team in the final four games of the regular season. Baltimore ended up losing the last six games of the season and missing the NFL playoffs.

Before he did suffer an injury, his performances were less than convincing. He threw for 2,882 passing yards while recording 16 TDs and 13 INTs.

The former league MVP is also holding out for a bumper new contract as his rookie contract enters the final year. A talented QB who led them to the playoffs in his first three seasons in the league, Jackson deserves a better contract. The AFC conference has only gotten further challenging in recent seasons, and the Ravens will be keen to tie him down long term.

The challenge that Lamar Jackson faces in 2022

The AFC conference is full of talented QBs like Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, Joe Burrow, Russell Wilson, Justin Herbert, and Derek Carr. Jackson is prone to comparison with them, and 2021 wouldn’t be a favorable sight for the talented player. Apart from the top quarterbacks, there are also many young players like Mac Jones, Tua Tagovaiola, Trevor Lawrence, and Zac Wilson who can be challenging for the Ravens QB.
