Matthew Stafford stood as the solo warrior in the QB position for the Los Angeles Rams. Rams GM Les Snead has selected only three QBs during his reign in 11 drafts. Stafford had led them to a Super Bowl championship two years ago, and he now prepares for his 15th season. Since the team did not re-sign QB John Wolford and Bryce Perkins after last season, the franchise was in a hunt to bring in another QB in the team. But nobody thought it will be Stetson Bennett from the Drafts.
With Bennett being the first QB to be drafted under HC Sean McVay, Snead had a very interesting reaction to the team drafting the young Georgia QB.

According to a recent article by Mike Florio for NBC Sports, the Rams GM was actually scouting the offensive linemen of the Georgia Bulldogs. While doing so, Bennett captured their interest. He had led his team to two continuous national championships in the past two seasons. The Rams drafted Bennett as their 128th overall pick in the fourth round of the 2023 Draft.

Speaking upon the drafting of Stetson Bennett, Les Snead said, “You just come away going, ‘Wow, I thought people said [Bennett] was just maybe, whatever kind of manage-the-game type QB.’ But what you did is you go, ‘Whoa, wait a minute. Look at that guy move. Look at him buy time, look at him anticipate throws.’ And you just come away thinking, ‘Wow, he was a weapon for Georgia.’ And I made a joke internally that he’s got a bad P.R. agent because his image is not maybe being, let’s call it a talented player, was probably a little false.”

With the drafting of the 25-year-old QB, the Rams now have a QB that they can mold to possibly become a future franchise star.
Could Benett replace Stafford?
Despite leading the Rams to a Super Bowl victory, Stafford is 35 years old. And after a certain time, the physicality of the game gets to you. So it is unsure how long he will continue his professional footballing career. With Stetson in the mix now, the Rams have the opportunity to turn him into a weapon for the team under the guidance of their veteran QB. Bennett already has an impressive college record. He is the first QB in Georgia to throw for more than 4,000 yards in one season. He has the second-best record in SEC history, going 29-3 in his entire college career.
