The Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes can be rightly regarded as a generational talent, especially looking at his past achievements. One among them happens to be the knock he played against the GOAT Tom Brady in the 2019 AFC championship game. The passer recently recalled the prestigious moment and the valuable advice he received from the veteran after the game.

The Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady has seven titles to his name, while Mahomes has only one. He is only 27, and so far, the youngster has left an unwavering mark in the league.

He is now considered among the top-tier QBs competing in the league alongside greats like Brady, who watched generations pass in front of their eyes. While speaking in a recent interview, Mahomes recalled the moment when the then Patriots signal-caller Tom Brady came down to meet him after winning the game and appreciated him for his effort.

Indeed, getting kind words from the legends of the game is a cherishing moment for a lifetime. “The first thing was after the AFC Championship game, we lost him. I remember I mean, obviously, I’m, I’m upset and sad, and I’m sitting in the locker room forever and I start to walk out and he’s there waiting.” Mahomes said about the incident.

“All he said to me was that it wasn’t a big day today and just keep doing how you’re doing. You’re doing it the right way. And as a young quarterback, you just go out there and play and try to have fun.”

“Do whatever you can to put your team in the best position to win but when the GOAT’s saying that he’s saying you’re doing it the right way.” he added narrating the entire story.

On various occasions, Mahomes had narrated this story, and it was Brady’s last campaign with the Patriots. He went on to clinch his sixth Super Bowl title and shift his base to the Buccaneers’ camp.

Chiefs lost 37-31 that game and went on to win the NFL MVP award at 23. “It’s an amazing feeling. But it’s a credit to all those guys I play with. It’s not just me.” Mahomes said after winning the award.

Ultimately, the quarterback won his first Super Bowl title and joined the elite panel of passers to have clinched the titles at a young age. His performance never slacked. Mahomes came up stronger every time and is currently chasing his second Lombardi trophy in the 2022 season.
