Recently, the football world suffered a tragic loss. NCAA D-1 coach, Mike Leach, passed away from complications in a heart condition. The college coach was beloved and known for his talent for developing and coaching players that later found success in the NFL. Furthermore, the NFL world has offered up its condolences to the Mississippi State University football program. Among the prominent figures from the league, Bill Belichick also offered his condolences and spoke about the impact the coach has had.

Belichick opened up his address while talking about the loss the college football community faced. While it was a brief condolence, the Patriots’ head coach spoke a few good words about Leach.

During the press conference for the Patriots, Belichick spoke about several things concerning the team’s play. However, he first took a moment to talk about the loss of Mike Leach. He addressed the Mississippi State University college program. Belichick also recalled a moment that Leach had with reference to the media and press.

Belichick spoke about Leach’s moments with the press that he personally thought were hilarious. He also talked about the impact the coach has had on college football. As per New England Sports Network, Belichick said, “He’s been a pretty big figure in College football from Tech to Washington State. Coached a lot of great players and developed a lot of players who’ve played in the National Football League.” The HC also talked about the funny moments Leach had with the press. He said, “Funny guy, he’s a funny guy. He’s got some press conference highlights that are about as good as they get.”Furthermore, Belichick offered his condolences to the college football program that he coached.

Who comes after Leach?

Mike Leach had been coaching at Mississippi State for 2 years now. Previously, he had coached many prospects who had come to the NFL. Leach was also the coach for the current Arizona Cardinals coach, Kliff Kingsbury. With his loss, the university is planning on promoting defensive coordinator Zach Arnett to head coach.

With the passing of a great coach, Belichick shows great class while paying his respects to Mike Leach. After giving his condolences, Belichick went on to talk about their next match-up against the Raiders.
