What makes Aaron Rodgers stay on top of his game?
Aaron Rodgers’ accuracy makes him a special sensation, feels the former teammate. His consistency and care for teammates are two qualities that impressed Rodgers’ long-time friend. It was A-Rod who pushed his friend’s name to bring him back to the 2021 Packers squad. However, it did not materialize and Matthews did not pick other teams either, to play.
The experienced campaigner also shared his thoughts on the NFL GOAT debate. “And obviously, that’s a separate debate. We’re bringing in Tom and Super Bowls, but just his ability to put the ball wherever he wants is truly remarkable. I think I had texted him in 2020, was my first season not playing and I just from sitting on the couch watching him. I mean, he is fun to watch,” Matthews added.
The veteran linebacker also listed why A-Rod maintained consistency for 18 seasons. “There’s a reason why he’s been top of the game for so long. You know he challenges himself and puts himself in uncomfortable positions and ultimately, he’s an interesting character. He kind of marches to the beat of his own drum and you gotta love him for that,” he pointed out.
A veteran of 18 seasons, Rodgers is third on the NFL’s all-time regular season career passer ratings. A-Rod also has the best touchdown-to-interception ratio in NFL history at 4.80. Rodgers and Matthews played together for ten seasons, from 2009. The latter earned six Pro Bowl nods with the Packers. Clay Matthews was named an all-pro in 2010, as the Packers won their fourth Super Bowl title.
