The Jerry Jones-owned Dallas Cowboys endured a difficult outing in the NFL last year. They finished 3rd in the NFC East with a 6-10 record in their first full season under new Head Coach Mike McCarthy.
They missed star quarterback Dak Prescott, who was ruled out in Week 5 with a double compound fracture in the win over New York Giants.

The 27-year-old is currently undergoing rehabilitation as he targets a comeback before the season starts later in September. But Prescott was rewarded with a long-term deal on Monday night after lengthy negotiations with franchise owner Jerry Jones and Co.

Dak Prescott is now the second-highest paid quarterback in the NFL
Former AP NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award winner Dak Prescott penned a 4-year contract extension with Dallas Cowboys last night. The deal has a maximum value of $160 million, including $126 million in guaranteed money.
In contrast, legendary Cowboys QB Tony Romo made $125 million in his 14-year stay in Texas. This is the largest-ever guaranteed amount given to an NFL player.
Two major clauses of the deal include a no-trade clause and a no-tag provision. He is the second-highest paid quarterback in the league behind Kansas City Chiefs starter Patrick Mahomes. Prescott will pocket more than $40 million in the next 4 years.

The stat above indicates how Dak Prescott has the most passing yards-per-game average in the NFL. He tops a list including some big names like Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Ben Roethlisberger, and Drew Brees. Of course, that stat is a bit misleading considering Dak featured in just 5 games for the Cowboys in 2020.

The LA-born athlete threw for 1,856 yards with 9 passing touchdowns last season. In his 5-year stay in Dallas, Prescott 17,634 passing yards and 106 passing touchdowns for the Cowboys.
Fans took to social media to express their joy over Prescott’s new deal. But the former Mississippi State man will face a battle against time in order to get fit in time for the 2021 NFL season.
