The University of Georgia just won the National Championship for the second consecutive year, after defeating TCU. While the whole city and the campus were celebrating this feat last night, the fans were given a shattering news. Offensive lineman Devin Willock and a staff member, Chandler LeCroy, were killed in a car accident early Sunday morning. The football world went into absolute shock over the tragic announcement.
Just hours after the Bulldogs celebrated the championship with a parade and ceremony, 4 members of the team were involved in a road accident.

While Willock and LeCroy were declared dead, they say Two other members of the program are injured. The crash occurred in Athens Clarke county in Georgia.

The tragedy has stunned the football community, especially in the middle of their celebration laps after the championship.

Journalist Dawn White shared that the community has been leaving flowers in front of Sanford Stadium. According to her, the mood of the entire campus is “somber and sad.”

The loss of two talented figures in the Georgia Bulldogs will certainly be tough to deal with for the community.
HC Kirby Smart releases a statement
The Bulldogs HC Kirby Smart, who has been very well known in the NCAA circuit, released a statement following the crash. “We are all heartbroken and devastated with the loss of Devin Willock and Chandler LeCroy,” Smart added. “Devin was an outstanding young man in every way. He was always smiling, was a great teammate and a joy to coach. Chandler was a valuable member of our football staff and brought an incredible attitude and energy every single day. We grieve with their families for this tragic loss and will support them in every way possible.”

The police have reported that the single-vehicle accident took place at around 2:45 am on Sunday. While Willock dies at the scene, they took LeCroy to the hospital where he later passed away from his injuries.
