New York Jets have acquired Aaron Rodgers from Green Bay Packers, signaling a new direction for the Packers. With Rodgers out of the picture, Green Bay has put all its trust and confidence in Jordan Love. Moreover, the team has just given him a lucrative one-year contract extension worth $22.5 million. However, there have been differing opinions about Love’s capability on the field and the chances that he will be a worthy successor to Rodgers. ESPN’s Adam Schefter’s report said that although Love won’t be getting the guaranteed money that would have come with exercising his fifth-year option, his extension gives him more time to prove himself as the team’s future quarterback. The Packers gave him a one-year contract extension worth up to $22.5 million, including $13.5 million fully guaranteed. The agreement was made just before the fifth-year option deadline.

During the ‘ESPN NFL Live’, Ryan Clark brought an angle that, the team’s backup quarterback, Jordan Love was smart to ask the team how he can help, and work together with them to ensure that they are not left without a starting quarterback next year.

While Marcus Spears agrees with Ryan and adds that if they were general managers, they would want the player to be compensated and happy, but they would also take care of the team’s needs to build.

The other panelist, Marcus Spears, urged Green Bay fans not to judge Jordan Love solely based on his statistics or numbers. He added that instead, people should pay attention to how he commands the game on the field, how he handles the offense, and how much respect he commands from his teammates.

“This message is for Green Bay fans. Don’t quantify Jordan Love by numbers. Don’t look at the stats. He’s not going to be that,” per Spears. “Mistakes will be made. This is the hardest position to play in a league that is so high leverage every time you step out on the field. He [Jordan] will make mistakes,” he added.

According to Marcus’ comments, playing quarterback is a tough job, and mistakes will happen, but by watching how Jordan Love handles different situations, the fans can determine if he has the potential to be the team’s future quarterback beyond just his passing yards or touchdowns. Do you think Love will be able to fulfill the expectations?
