Geno Smith’s rise to success shocked the entire NFL world. Last season, everyone saw the Seahawks move to the playoffs. Smith became the new quarterback after Seahawks’ sent Russell Wilson to the Denver Broncos in a trade. Some fans expected him as a temporary option while the team looked for a long go. In a recent interview of ‘The Herd with Colin Cowherd,’ Metcalf joined Colin Cowherd to discuss the transition. Metcalf mentioned Smith was a key figure in the team and appreciated him for building a positive team culture. Also, he talked about Smith’s past immaturity, how he got motivated by sitting behind Russell Wilson, and how his observation made him a star quarterback.

“He was immature in his past but I believe sitting behind Russ really like motivated him and really showed him how good he could really be um in this league because uh even at practice he’s yelling at the practice squad guys to run their routes right he was like this is my opportunity too that’s right and I’m like okay I respect that”

Geno Smith’s transition was shocking, but not a stroke of luck. His hard work, dedication, and strong desire made him who he is today.

Seattle Seahawks can draft a new quarterback

The Seattle Seahawks could make a surprising move while gearing up for the upcoming 2023 NFL draft. Despite having Geno Smith as their quarterback with impressive statistics from last season (passer rating of 100.9, 4282 yards, 30 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions in 17 games), they might draft a new quarterback. The Seahawks have the opportunity to secure a new talent with the fifth overall pick, who could play under Smith for a few seasons before taking over the starting job.

Anthony Richardson’s name came up in the discussions about the Seahawks’ draft plans. Richardson, with his elite size and athletic ability, could be a perfect player to play under Smith. The head coach and the general manager of the Seattle Seahawks could take a developmental move for Richardson at No. 5.
