As tensions rise between the Cleveland Browns and Odell Beckham Jr., the wide receiver has been excused from the team practice following a social media push on Tuesday to get the wide receiver out of Cleveland.
According to NFL Network’s Mike Garofolo, “Browns WR Odell Beckham will be excused from practice again today, source says. We’ll see where this goes but talks continue.”

This whole saga came to light after OBJ’s father took to Instagram, posting a video of quarterback Baker Mayfield not throwing to the wideout even on open plays. Following which the NBA superstar and Beckham’s friend LeBron James advocated for a #FreeOBJ trend on Twitter.

OBJ being excused from the team
Although the Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski declined to put OBJ up for trade until the deadline passed on Tuesday, but now the franchise is rethinking the whole situation of their relationship with the three-time Pro Bowl receiver and how to cope up with it.
In the meantime, Beckham’s teammates opened up about his status in the team and their likeness towards him. “If he wants to come back and be part of the team, I’m sure we’d welcome him with open arms,” said guard Joel Bitonio to NFL Network’s Mike Garofolo.

Although according to the safety, John Johnson, “I feel like the majority of this locker room would love to have him in this building. Flat out,” indicating an internal rivalry within the squad. Taking the suspicion forward, an unnamed player told Garafolo, “He does nothing. He talks to no one. He’s just got a malcontent attitude.”

Judging by the heated environment of the locker room, Odell Beckham Jr.‘s untimely release from the Browns will not come as a surprise, if that happens. But with the transfer window already closed on Tuesday, Beckham would be subjected to waivers if released and if any team puts in a claim and wins, the wideout would take on the rest of OBJ’s contract.
