“He Cares About Social Justice and Black Community”: NFL Legend Once Went Against LeBron James to Support Donald Trump

American sports enthusiasts often witness a crossover that becomes a shocker. Both sectors have divergent functionality and have zero ties. But fans often see top athletes showcasing their obedience to various political figures. It includes LeBron James, who showed his support for Joe Biden. However, NFL legend Herschel Walker went in all-praise to support his good friend, Donald Trump.

Professional athletes showcasing political allegiance is not a new phenomenon. However, situations get attractive after a significant personality shows up as a supporter. Fans heavily linked Tom Brady with the former POTUS because of their past. And due to some old links, Herschel Walker acknowledging Trump is not a big surprise.

During the 2020s Presidential election season, LeBron James rose to fame after casting his first ever vote. But Shaquille O’Neal also went a step ahead after becoming a Joe Biden cheerleader. The NBA legend made his political preferences obvious through his podcast. However, Herschel Walker, a Trump supporter, went all-in against James.

During the 2020 Republican National Convention, RB Walker publicly admires Trump. He mentions via Newsweek “I care about all of those things, and so does Donald Trump. He shows how much he cares about social justice and the Black community through his actions. And his actions speak louder than any stickers or slogans on a jersey.”

Donald Trump got some stable support from the world of sports. But Walker stands out among the rest. At the Nation Convention, the pro football legend also supported the former president’s standpoint on athletes kneeling during the national anthem. The attention might move towards Colin Kaepernick, as Trump had some harsh words for the ex-49ers QB because of his protests.

How did Donald Trump and Herschel Walker know each other?

For nearly 40 years, Herschel Walker has had a “deep, personal friendship” with Donald Trump. Apart from the NFL, the RB was also in the USFL and was under the Trump umbrella. According to Sportingnews, Walker and Trump have been friends since the early 1980s, when Trump bought the New Jersey Generals of the USFL. RB Herschel Walker was a member of the franchise at that time.

As per Sportscasting, the Dallas Cowboys picked Walker in the fifth round of the 1985 draft in case the USFL ended its operations. Walker signed with the Cowboys in 1986, so it all worked out. He also played for the Minnesota Vikings and the Philadelphia Eagles besides the Cowboys.
