The unfortunate demise of Mike Leach has shocked the football world. Not only were football players and fans sad, but many people outside of sports were too. Just days after the passing of the Mississippi State football coach, he received love from his admirers. Former President Donald Trump also paid tribute to the coach.

Mike Leach became a renowned personality during his stint as Mississippi State football coach. He would remain a notable figure in college football, and his unfortunate passing shocked the football community. With celebrities and athletes expressing condolences, Donald Trump stated Coach Leach.

Donald Trump wrote, “Mike Leach was an incredible Patriot and Coach, with a big heart for our Country and for Football. From the very beginning, Mike was on Team MAGA, because he believed in our Great American Dream, something he lived, and helped others to achieve for themselves. My deepest condolences to his wife Sharon, and family. Coach Mike Leach will be missed by us all.”

The friendship between Mike Leach and Donald Trump was a wild talking point. In 2016, the coach extended his support for the former POTUS by expressing his commendation. Trump also aided Coach Leach when he lost his job at Texas Tech in 2009. The former president endorsed him for the Miami Hurricanes coaching job.

Mike Leach passed away on Monday after sustaining heart-related complications at age 61. He was in his third season as head coach and led the Bulldogs to an 8-4 record this season. Coach Leach has also been named national coach of the year a few times.

Who would harbor the Bulldogs after Mike Leach?

The college football community is mourning the loss of coach Mike Leach. It was a substantial loss for the Bulldogs and everyone who was with the HC in some capacity. The Mississippi State football program was looking for Mike Leach’s successor, and defensive coordinator Zach Arnett may reportedly inherit the role.

As per ESPN, Mississippi State has agreed to have defensive coordinator Zach Arnett as the next head coach. He will take over for Mike Leach. Arnett has consented to a four-year contract which is yet to become an authorized one. Sources expect they will formalize it soon.

In the aftermath of coach Leach’s death, the football program made the decision to stabilize the situation to keep the Bulldogs together.
