NFL analyst Mike Garafolo spilled the beans on how Russell Wilson asked for a big contract but then signed a lower one a day later. Talking about the Daniel Jones situation with the Giants, Garafolo said that the reported $45 million a year demand means nothing.
“A lot of talk of Daniel Jones and a reported, rumored price of $45 million per season that a lot of people are saying,’ you gotta be kidding me with that number’. Frankly, I don’t care about that number,” Garafolo told the NFL Network.
He then brought up the Wilson situation with the Seahawks to make his point. And the point was that anyone could ask for any number till the deadline of making such decisions.
“I mean, I go back to Russell Wilson. Years ago, he and his agent proposed to the Seahawks $30 million per year on a multi-year deal. The next day, which was the deadline to do a deal day, (he) agreed to 21.9. So, you can ask for whatever you wanna ask for, up until the point where a decision has to be made,” the analyst added.
