All is not well within the Baltimore Ravens. You didn’t really need to hear this from us, though. Open the internet for just a second, and you will know. The team missed out on a playoff run once again this season, primarily owing to injuries to their star QB Lamar Jackson. And as for Lamar Jackson himself, we may have seen the last of the Ravens QB after his fateful trade announcement.
While the Ravens are not sure who their starting QB will be in the upcoming season, they haven’t given up hope for the team’s performance expectations though. They made a move to add another veteran receiver option to their team earlier this week and the coaching staff of the Ravens can’t stop raving about him. One coach in particular, HC John Harbaugh.

Former New England Patriots wide receiver Nelson Agholor agreed to a one-year contract with the Ravens, worth up to $6.25 million. Agholor, a former first-round pick (2015) known for his size and speed, could serve as a deep threat for the Ravens. The Ravens have had significant injuries at the receiver position in recent years, and Agholor could provide some much-needed stability.

Coach Harbaugh certainly believes so. For starters, the addition of Agholor has built a lot of excitement within the team. “Nelson, you know, I’m just excited to have him,” Harbaugh said in a meeting with reporters at the NFL Owners Meetings in Phoenix. Head Coach John Harbaugh started raving about Agholor Moments after Jackson’s announcement.
“He’s a guy that we’ve played against, former 1st round pick, big, rangy receiver, tough player, pro.”
Harbaugh seems to be a fan of the move to get Agholor on board the team. But with Lamar Jackson’s gloomy situation, the Ravens, perhaps, have bigger fish to fry.

The Lamar Jackson conundrum
The Ravens have been in contract talks with Jackson for nearly two years. But the QBs announcement has left the team uncertain about their future. Jackson announced via Twitter that he has requested a trade from the Ravens. Although the writing seems to be on the wall for the future between Lamar and the Ravens, HC Harbaugh is still holding out hope.
He indicated that he hopes a deal can still be reached with Jackson. But it is clear that the Ravens are moving forward with contingency plans. While Agholor’s signing is a step in the right direction, the Ravens still have work to do if they want to compete at the highest level. The team has struggled to make it past the divisional round of the playoffs in recent years, and with the loss of Jackson, they will need to make significant improvements if they want to contend for a Super Bowl.
